Recruitment FAQ

here have been quite a few questions about employment at Blizzard appearing on the forums and via emails to us, and as we are recruiting at the moment, we thought this FAQ might be interesting to those who were thinking about applying for a job with us:
Q: What is the minimum age required to join Blizzard?
A: We require that all applicants are over 18 years old with previous professional work experience in the area that they are applying for. If you lack the exact work experience that is required, we will still consider your application if you can demonstrate that you have other suitable experience that would be of benefit instead.

Q: Do you recruit from all countries?
A: We currently only recruit from countries that are full members of the European Union. This is due to Visa and work permit restrictions. If however you are from a country outside of the EU, and already live and work in France, you may still apply.

Q: Does the recruitment team notify applicants if they are not successful in getting to the interview stage?
A: Due to the amount of CVs that we receive, we will not normally notify you if your CV does not pass initial screening, but we do look at every CV that we receive. If you have not received any email or telephone responses from Blizzard within 4 weeks of sending, you should consider it as an unsuccessful application. If an applicant makes it to the interview stage, they will be notified via email or telephone.

Q: If I send an application for a position at Blizzard and it’s not suitable, would I be considered for other positions?
A: If we have a CV that is sent to us that is not suitable for the position that has been applied for, and we feel it is better suited for another area, we will pass the CV over for the other team’s consideration.

Q: If I am successful in my application to Blizzard, would there be opportunities to move to other departments at a later date?
A: Although we would prefer that staff stayed in the position that they applied to for a certain period of time, we do have opportunities for transferring to other areas which are advertised internally first.

Q: Can I work from home?
A: No. All job vacancies require that staff work from our offices which are located just outside of Paris. There are also no plans to create any sort of volunteer program that players can work on from home at this time.

Q: What salary are you paying?
A: This is something that would be discussed should you make it to the interview stage, and is dependant on several factors including previous experience and the position you are applying for.

Q: Do I get any help with relocating to France?
A: If you are successful in your application to work for Blizzard, you will get full access to a relocation agency that specialises in dealing with people who are moving to France for the first time. The relocation agency will deal with everything from showing you around apartments that you can rent, to setting up bank accounts and filling in paperwork.

Q: Is knowledge of French a requirement?
A: Knowledge of French is not required but can be beneficial. All office communication is in English as a first language; as we have staff from just about every European country here and it is very important for us to all communicate in one common language. And to make living in France easier, we have hired a full time tutor who offers free language courses to those who want to learn French or improve their already existing language skills in French and English.
