Evidence of epic battles can be found throughout the history of Azeroth, but never before has the threat of all-out war been so prevalent. Swords will clash and blood will flow, but as with any conflict, certain rules of engagement must be obeyed, even in the midst of heated battle.
Understanding these rules will help determine the tactics you employ when confronting your foes.
The following guidelines are the basis of a code of conduct we expect players to follow when battling players of the same or opposing alliance. These guidelines will attempt to encompass any and all situations that may arise during PvP (Player vs. Player) combat. However, these guidelines are not exhaustive and there are sure to be situations that are not covered here. Due to this fact, we reserve the right to evaluate each issue on a case by case basis.
The PvP server is designed to allow open combat between members of the Horde and the Alliance. As such, players on this server have a greater ability to resolve issues on their own. Based on this, certain policies may be different from those on non-PvP servers. These differences are listed below.
Opposing Faction
This category covers PvP combat between members of the Horde and the Alliance.
- The Ongoing Harassment policy does not apply on the PvP server when there is a PvP resolution available. Characters have the ability to deal with their conflicts through combat and Game Masters will only involve themselves in extreme circumstances.
- Actions that would typically be considered "dishonorable actions" are considered PvP mechanics and are not considered harassment.
- Policies governing general decency are still in effect. Actions such as inappropriate names, obscene language, and spamming, will still be addressed according to our current policies.
Same Faction
This category covers issues between members of the same faction.
- Because there are no PvP resolutions between members of the same faction (Horde vs. Horde or Alliance vs. Alliance), normal policies and guidelines will be enforced.
The bottom line is that we want World of Warcraft to be a fun and safe environment for all players. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, and the key words are "Massively Multiplayer". In playing this game, you will encounter thousands of other players who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds. While certain actions may not bother you, consider the fact that these same actions may be perceived in a completely different manner by those around you. We have done everything we can to make World of Warcraft a great game, but now it's up to you the players, to breathe life into the world. Choose wisely my friends.
