Upper Deck TCG Darkmoon Faire

Can you see... the future?
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...
Grrrrr!
Welcome... to the Faire!
Germany, Italy, and now England: The Darkmoon Faire is touring all over Europe, and its latest stop was in London! From 20 to 21 October, Upper Deck Entertainment and Blizzard gave players another opportunity to face off against each other in exciting TCG tournaments and compete in all kind of fun in-game contests.

The TCG tournament was hectic, seeing the return of some now-famous faces like Pierre Malherbaud (winner of the DMF in Frankfurt), Florent Jeudon (who lost against his fellow French compatriot in Milan) and Erik van der Laan (winner of the previous DMF in Milan), facing some of the winners of the UK tournaments like Stuart Wright or Top 8 Finalist in the same UK tournament, Paul Batum.

Against all odds, the previous Darkmoon Faire heroes were forced to yield to their skilled opponents from the UK tournaments: Erik had to surrender against Paul Batum, and Stuart Right managed to reach the semi-final after eliminating Mathieu Laguerre.

The final showdown took place between Stuart and Paul. The two finalists were both very skilled, and even though Paul won the die roll, he finally succumbed to Stuart and his hero Nathadan, who won the two games with brio.

Let’s congratulate Paul Stuart, who is now a double champion, winning both the UK Tournaments and the DMF London!

The Draft tournament wasn't the only center of attention this week-end: the iPod challenge, also known by the players as the Gadgetzan tournament, was very successful, both in terms of attendance (with a lot of top players participating) and quality. With a game based upon random cards picked from ready-to-open boosters, the luck factor was more important here than any other tournament. But in the end, it was still the most skilled player who won this tournament: Vince Turner crushed all of his opponents and won the iPod video with an impressive score of 6-0. Way to go!

Having fun with Blizzard
As usual, the Blizzard Community Team was there to entertain all the players gathered at the Dark Moon Faire.

This time, our fearless community team decided to defy the TCG players in some gun slinging battles! Out of the 19 one-to-one matches, they were only beaten 5 times. All the players who faced them were skilled, and everybody won some prizes (with of course, a little bit more for the winners)! For the first time, players had the chance to play as a raid with the Molten Core deck against the CM team. Both raids, which were courageous enough to brave the bosses of the Molten Core, were finally defeated by Baron Geddon, after progressing nicely against all the trash mobs and even defeating our CMs a few times.

But those who wanted to leave the TCG world for a while between tournaments rounds also had the opportunity to enter some various in-game contests: racing and leveling contests were, as always, very successful, and the swiftest players were awarded with great prizes like Gurky in-game pets!

The Arena PvP contests were also popular, and once again, players enjoyed fighting against each other for glory, entertainment and prizes!

Another week-end of pure fun is now behind us, and all of us at Blizzard were pleased to see you during this event in London. We’re looking forward to see you in Lille, France, for the next Darkmoon Faire, for a lot of new surprises!
