BlizzCon 2010 World of Warcraft and StarCraft II In-Game Items

"Death will rise from the tide!" Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain once warned -- and at BlizzCon 2010, the band’s dire musical prophecy will finally come to pass. Everyone who attends this year’s BlizzCon or purchases the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket will receive an exclusive set of murlocalyptic in-game items for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. World of Warcraft players will be joined by Deathy, a murloc companion decked out as Deathwing and doing his best to strike fear into the hearts of Azeroth’s crustacean population. You’ll also be able to display your tidal pride in StarCraft II with a Murloc Marine character portrait and a pair of deep-sea decals to emblazon on your units, each with a different terran, protoss, and zerg design.

gamescom Recap – The Finale!

gamescom 2010 has come to a close! This year, we hosted many events -- including raids with members of the guilds “For the Horde” and “Refuge.” Visitors to our booth also participated in an epic World of Warcraft Dancing contest, Q&A quizzes, and other fun events. We also hosted a Goblin Leveling contest as part of the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm hands-on demonstration. Fans of Diablo got their chance to see the up-coming release of Diablo III at our booth while others could watch the StarCraft II showmatches that took place. All in all, gamescom 2010 was a huge success and we have the screenshots to prove it!

We’d like to thank everyone who dropped by our booth in Cologne and we hope to see you again next year!

Fan Sites:

Wow.herniweb.cz continues their short story about Vindicator Nobundovi in the third chapter of Unbroken. Another story found on this site is the tale known as Fragments of Memories. Wow.herniweb.cz also has a lot of Cataclysm beta updates this week, and amongst them you can find an article about the Worgen and Gilneas. Their beta coverage also features screenshots, some from the Bastion of Twilight and some showing the Goblin mounts.

WoW-Serbia has been very busy creating a lot of awesome reviews of the many zones in the Cataclysm beta, which includes footage from Stonetalon Mountains, Northern Stranglethorn, Cape of Stranglethorn, Elwynn Forest, Loch Modan, Eastern Plaguelands, Badlands and the Wetlands. You can also find an update about the new mounts that people can get in Cataclysm, and don't miss out on the preview of the new Cataclysm Glyph Interface.

Battlecraft also has a lot of new beta footage this week. Check out their preview on the Vortex Pinnacle dungeon located in the Skywall complex, and don't miss out on the new screenshots from Stormwind. Battles are won and lost in the eSports world every week. We are here to summarise them, giving you an overview of the recent action. Here is what happened last week!

StarCraft II
In two qualifying rounds for the first GOMtv Global StarCraft II League, two thousand players battled for one of only 64 available places. The triumphant 64 will now continue to fight for their share of $170,000 in prize money! But among them all, only one will make history as the first StarCraft II GSL champion. Who is it going to be? Check the lists of qualified players from day one and day two to make your own predictions for this upcoming tournament!

The first StarCraft II event on the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit, that took place in Raleigh, North Carolina, came to a close last weekend with Chris "HuK" Loranger defeating some of the best players from North America and Europe to emerge victorious. Coming from the winners' bracket with a 2-1 lead, he managed to secure a best-of-seven win over the second-place finisher, Jonathon "KiWiKaKi" Garneau, after just three games. Check out the coverage on the MLG site for all the results and updates.

The groups for the Intel Extreme Masters American Championship have been announced. Some of the best players from the USA, Canada and Peru will fight for eight spots in the finals, which will take place in New York on October 8 – 10. World of Warcraft
The World of Warcraft Arena tournament at MLG Raleigh wrapped up last weekend with American teams Nerdstomper Blue and Evil Geniuses meeting in the final to fight for the glory of first place. In the final both teams fielded a rogue/warlock/shaman setup, but Nerdstomer Blue ultimately proved too strong for Evil Geniuses and won the $9,000 first place prize. Evil Geniuses, losing 2-3, took home the $4,500 second place prize. For team lists, results and the breakdown of the tournament go to gotfrag.com.

Wow.battlenet.pl has been to gamescom 2010, and while they were there they had a chance to participate in a Q&A session with Game Director Tom Chilton, which they of course have covered on their site. They also had an Interview with Tom Chilton later on, which you can find right here.

Wow.herniweb.cz has plenty of updates this week, and amongst them you can find the second chapter of Unbroken, where the short story about Vindicator Nobundovi continues. You can also find many of interesting Cataclysm Beta updates from their different blogs, and don't miss out on their contest where you can win the book of Arthas: Rise of the Lich King. Plenty more updates can be found on their site, so be sure to check it out.

WoW-Serbia has some great text, screeenshot and video coverage of Ashenvale and Orgrimmar in Cataclysm, and you can also learn more about the latest Cataclysm Beta build. Battles are being lost and won in the eSports world every week. We are here to summarise them, giving you an overview of the recent action. Here is what happened last week!

StarCraft II
The first Intel Extreme Masters, held at gamescom 2010 in Cologne, Germany, came to a close last Sunday. The tournament generated an insane amount of excitement and produced some amazing games. Thousands of fans cheered for their favourite players, who were fighting for the title and a share of the $15,000 prize money. First place went to Swede Stefan "MorroW" Andersson who beat American Greg "IdrA" Fields in the terran versus zerg final. Third place was taken by crowd favourite Dmytry "mTwDIMAGA" Filipchuk, who won a nail-biting third place playoff against Tomasz "Tarson" BoroĊ„ from Poland. You can watch all the VODs of this great spectacle over at ESL TV. You can also check the coverage of the event, featuring updates, galleries and many interesting interviews on mymym.com.

In other news, ESL Pro Series Germany, another event organised by Electronic Sports League, started on Tuesday with the first round of matches. To watch all the replays and see who finished on top check out GosuGamers.

Warcraft III
Philip "Longwalk" Crawford and Abdulaziz "CrunCher" Abed are the two players who qualified for BlizzCon 2010, trumping the very tough field in this year's 2010 North American Regionals. In the end it was Night Elf player Longwalk, who beat his Human opponent in the final, who took the title. For recaps and replays go to the official event page.

World of Warcraft
CompLexity.Red, playing mage/warlock/druid, are the winners of this year's 2010 North American Warcraft Regional Finals. This victory gives them a spot at the BlizzCon 2010 finals, where they will be joined by second place finishers, Arena Pwnage, playing priest/shaman/druid. Check out the official event site for recaps and results. We will also see both winning teams this weekend, as the next event on the 2010 Major League Gaming circuit takes place in Raleigh from August 27-29.
